Rain doesn’t have to end the trip. A few options for when the weather turns:
- Curry’s Fun Park — indoor amusement rides, dodgems, and arcade games.
- The Wacky Workshop — indoor soft play for kids (climbing frames, slides, ball pits) while you have a coffee.
- Sportsland Amusements, on the promenade — a classic arcade, slot machines to penny pushers.
- The Playhouse Cinema — current releases in a cosy setting.
- Portrush Coastal Zone — marine and coastal exhibitions, touch tanks, and an observation deck; genuinely good for curious kids.
- Surf anyway — you’ll be wet regardless, and some of the best conditions at East Strand come with a bit of drizzle. Local surf schools rent boards and run lessons rain or shine.
- Ice cream at Morelli’s or Maud’s — no rule says you can’t. Take it down to West Strand and watch the waves.
